Apple iCam Concept Aims to Propel Apple Into the Photo Market

Posted by Travis on December 2, 2011

Apple is a name that is a clear industry leader in many things tech.  In terms of photography however, it currently has no meaningful presence even though the iPhone 4s has been declared by many as the best point and shoot for many people.

This concept by ADR Studio shows the heavily rumored concept design for the forthcoming iPhone 5 attached to a camera accessory that transforms it to a more capable shooter.  It actually kind of looks like a micro four thirds camera with a dedicated touchscreen interface.

The attached dock of sorts aims to partner the iPhone's many available photo apps as well as internet connectivity with a more capable camera sensor and lens interchangeability for a fairly portable camera solution that would be useful to a mass consumer market.  There would be many variables to consider with such a concept, but it is an interesting one indeed.

There's no argument that my DSLR takes way better photos than my iPhone at the moment, but often times I'll use the iPhone for quick snapshots due to its portability, plethora of apps and internet connectivity for instant uploading.  To have a compromise between the two worlds would be a nice option indeed.
