I just love this photography by Sandra Kantanen. Before you dismiss it as cheap effects accomplished after the fact in Photoshop, know that it is anything but. Based out of Helsinki, Finland, Kantanen actually prints her photos on metal “with similar pigments found in acrylic paints”. While the prints are still wet, she goes over [...]

The idea is simple, capture multiple subjects and their shadows and arrange to create interesting and playful patterns. The varying use of different animals and even people create spectacular dynamic compositions. It may be simple, but the use of living things to create what almost looks like a printed pattern is simply enticing to look at. They make you look at shadows in a whole new light (no pun intended).

What a wonderful series of photographs from Gaby Herbstein! Using creative sets made from repurposed trash, Herbstein has put together something that feels extremely dreamlike and imaginative. It is almost as though she has taken us into the uninhibited imagination of a child, albeit mixed with the artful sensibilities and tastes of a seasoned creative. [...]

If you’ve seen anime, you’ve seen the exaggerated facial features and body figures of the characters in this Japanese art form. While we realize these dimensions are exaggerated, they somehow work in the world of the animation. Chris Scarborough decided to test the concept in the real world. In this series entitled “Ideal Species”, he [...]
